Yet whereas the first season charted the mistakes that were made (mainly by King Viserys, RIP) that led to the dominoes being lined up, this season pits the two teams — Black (Targaryen) and Green (Hightower) — against each other atop dragons. So, we’ll see the “Dance of the Dragons,” so nicknamed by the civilians of Westeros, take place with mass casualties as a result. Both trailers showcase Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) leading his forces on horseback into a battle that wages within an undisclosed forest, while dragons dart and dive overhead. There are various key battles that occur in the timeline of the Dance of the Dragons, but given Ser Criston's presence, a good guess would be the Battle of Rook's Rest.

House of the Dragon is a prequel to the Game of Thrones series and takes place nearly 200 years before the events of the 2011 show. It appears House of the Dragon will likely run for four seasons, although the reduced episode count could see the story expand into Season 5. The key thing Martin has revealed in anticipation of the season 1 finale was just how long he, Condal, and HBO intended to keep the Targaryen history churning. Rhaenyra's supporters will believe what they wish, but Viserys wanted Aegon to succeed him."
Executive producer Ryan Condal supposedly remained on set in a strictly non-writing production with no editing, no network notes, and no writing. House of the Dragon Season 2 began filming in the United Kingdom in April before moving over to Spain in May, with the season supposedly expected to continue production until around the end of the year.
